Pop Art: Say No to Lynas in Malaysia!
The art movement I had chosen for this piece of work is Pop Art. It is an anti-aesthetic & anti-traditional art movement. Pop Art is to present every day events, and to reflect the current issues. The masterpiece that inspired me is Kiss, a unique way of showing a simple object to make it more interesting.
I related my work to the latest issue, ‘Say No To Lynas’ I used anti-Lynas logo and imitate the style of Kiss. The colors I chose for my work are red, green and purple; while red representing the Chinese, green representing the Malays, and purple representing the Indians. It is because Malays, Chinese & Indians are the three main races in Malaysia. And I place three colors that representing three main races in Malaysia in different positions are to symbolize that all of us should stand together to against Lynas, no matter who are Indian, Chinese or Malay. There is no racist, as we are all Malaysians. We should against Lynas in Malaysia in order to protect our next generation. Except the Malaysians that gone to overseas, there also many people from all over the world that support anti-Lynas. One of the facts that, 95% of the rare earth materials are come from China, and the production plant of most major high tech companies are also in China. On another hand, it means that the production of high tech products will not affect with or without Lynas in Malaysia.
The anti-Lynas logo is to give audience a clear message of ‘Say No To Lynas.’ As everyone know that the process of making rare earth materials will release massive of radiation in the air, and it will cause cancers or skin diseases to human being. Besides that, it also will increase the rate of having deformed children in Malaysia.
