For this work, the art movement that I have chosen is Surrealism. Surrealism is an expression of the unconscious. It is a type of dreamlike paintings especially nightmares filled with mysterious objects that have been oddly changed in ways that people couldn’t see in the reality. Base on my own understanding, Surrealism is not just dreamlike, it also a type of art that brings out the deep inner side of a person, as it is an expression of the unconscious. 

Thus, in my work I used human faces, eye, eyelashes, and lips to form a human face instead of ordinary human face we seen in reality. The eyelashes replaced the eyebrow, and the lips representing the eyes. The few human faces combine together to form a nose. The eye replaced the mouth. The lips replaced the eyes in the human face is because the human eye will not tell lies, it only show us the fact as it is the window to the soul. The lips one is closing and another one is opening is to symbolize the truth and the lies. It is because we always have a chance to tell others the truth or the lies. 

The faces that form a nose is to symbolize that human can’t live alone, we need to get attach with family members, friends and others. It is because human beings are social animals, and people can die if they do not experience human touch. It place the nose is to symbolize that get in touch with people is as important as breathing, as both can lead to death.  The eye symbolize that human not only see things with the eye, also with the mouth as we get information from people when we talk to them.  I used dark watercolor splash on it to show how the dark inner side of a person can be, without the person realizing.
